'The Turn of the Screw' - October 2005 An adaptation of the book by Henry James. Shortly after Miss Grey, a governess, arrives at Bly to take charge of orphaned Flora and Miles, she begins to see strange figures - a man and a young woman. These figures seem to be the ghosts of the former valet and governess, both of whom are dead. As no-one else appears to be troubled by these visions, Miss Grey begins to wonder if she is suffering from some terrible derangement. But then, to her horror, she realizes that it is not her, but the children that the ghosts want. She determines to save the children from destruction and damnation at the hands of these ‘devils’ - but will her courageous efforts be enough to save them from tragedy? Period drama set in 1876. |
